Simple Mining has acquired an Iowa Bitcoin mining facility of about 8 MW from Sphere 3D Corp. We announced the acquisition on October 7, 2026. The site supports about 2,200 latest-generation miners and brings our Iowa platform to close to 160 MW of capacity. It runs under the same model as every facility we own and operate: machine sales, hosting, and repair handled in-house by our own team. For customers, the takeaway is more owned capacity to put miners on.

What Simple Mining Acquired
Simple Mining acquired an energized Bitcoin mining facility in Iowa with about 8 MW of capacity and room for about 2,200 latest-generation miners. Capacity is the number that matters here. It describes what the site is built to power rather than how much power runs through it on a given day. An energized site also skips the slowest part of any mining build, which is the wait for power.

The site joins the facilities Simple Mining owns and operates across Iowa. We manage more than 40,000 miners. The same team that runs every other site on the platform runs this one.
"This acquisition adds fully energized, high-performing capacity to our platform from day one," said Adam Haynes, CEO of Simple Mining. "It brings another site under the same operating standard we deliver to every customer."
How Simple Mining Built This Site
Simple Mining engineered, developed, and operated this site for Sphere 3D before buying it. Simple Mining built the site and ran it from the start, and it now owns it. In 2024 Sphere 3D partnered with Simple Mining to engineer, develop, and operate an Iowa mining site under a managed services agreement. For customers that history matters because the team that designed the site is the team that maintains it.
What This Means for Customers
The acquisition expands the owned hosting capacity available to customers, who buy and host miners on Simple Mining's infrastructure. Customers at the site get access to our dedicated ASIC repair operation and the same support team that serves the rest of the platform. One team sells the machine, hosts it, and repairs it. Accountability sits in one place.
Bitcoin miner hosting in Iowa now has another energized site behind it. If you want to add machines, you can buy Bitcoin miners from our inventory and host them on the platform. When a machine needs work, our ASIC repair center in Cedar Falls handles it.
"Our customers want more room to grow on infrastructure we own and operate, and this site delivers exactly that," said Nick Garland, Chief Operating Officer of Simple Mining. "Every megawatt we add in Iowa is capacity our customers can put to work."
